By having applications specify file sizes in their reservation requests, a VBDS scheduler is able to assign a varying-bandwidth allocation for different time ranges instead of a single fixed-rate. Through simulations, we show that this approach improves system performance when compared to fixed-bandwidth schemes significantly.
