The following are listed as important issues at the time of the revision (1989-1992): action orientation; definition of the field; discrimination; distance education; diversity; excellence; future focus; globalization; innovation; interaction with other fields of study and other campus units; management; multiple degree programs; ongoing evaluation processes; philosophy, principles, and ethics; research; specialization; technology; and users.
