Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This paper documents the effort of the SAE G-10 Enhanced Vision Systems (EVS) Subcommittee to identify, compile, categorized, and track human engineering issues regarding EVS. The FAA Synthetic Vision System Demonstration project and previous military experience with enhanced vision aids such as Night Vision Goggles, Forward Looking Infrared, and Low Light TV Systems have revealed some human engineering issues and the implementation questions that need to be addressed before such systems are put into civil operation. This document is intended to provide a central source for tracking of human engineering issues concerning EVS and to serve as an aid for planning research activities. The material contained herein is a result of the effort of the SAE G-10 EVS Subcommittee. It has been reviewed by the subcommittee and reflects the consensus of its members. The status of issues identified herein is based entirely upon data in the public domain. While the subcommittee recognizes that information which is classified or proprietary to vendors may have a bearing on some issues, human engineering study results or systems performance data must be available to the subcommittee before issues may be updated or resolved. Any comments or information concerning the issues contained in the document should be directed to the subcommittee chairman."--Foreword.
