Book excerpt: Abstract: This report presents the analysis and recommendations of a panel which reviewed the quality control system used to evaluate the performance of the USDA's Food Stamp Program. The background and current controversy concerning quality control in family assistance programs are reviewed. The methods of quality control in the Food Stamp Program are described and critiqued. Recommendations for a new quality control system are proposed.
