Book excerpt: This CVI-conscious lens is found in the Sensory Balance Approach (SBA), which guides professional judgment in implementing the FVA (CVI Range) and LMA (Koenig & Holbrook, 1995) findings throughout school activities. The SBA is used by the same professionals who use the LMA as an assessment tool. The SBA is not intended as a replacement for the LMA for children with CVI but as an optional supplement. The term "sensory balance" refers to the combination of a person's sensory learning modalities that results in the most efficient, comfortable access to the world - in general and also in specific activities.
