She is frightened and lonely in the isolated old house with her elderly aunt. Kaitlyn eventually becomes interested in her family roots. She is aware there is a mystery regarding her ancestors. Over time, she unravels the well-kept family secret with the help of her cousin, Rose. Her desire to unravel the final part of the mystery takes Kaitlyn on an adventure to Philadelphia. A serendipitous encounter while on her quest for the final part of the mystery changes her life yet again.
