The book investigates the technical aspects of a number of key battles of the Ugandan resistance war, but also presents a brief but penetrating examination of the history of warfare on the African continent. By means of detailed analysis of key battles of the resistance war the author develops a powerful case for the adoption of a 'maneuverist' approach to military operations. The book examines the four phases of the Ugandan resistance war. These are: the clandestine phase; guerrilla warfare phase; mobile warfare phase and conventional warfare phase. It focuses on a number of key battles within each of these phases and analyses them. The book ends with a lofty examination of the strategy of the resistance war and with recommendations of a doctrinal nature.
