Book excerpt: Due to the increased emphasis upon comprehensive and coordinated planning, there is a need for a better and more complete understanding of the role of the State in the development and management of water and related land resources. This role depends largely on the laws and programs of the State. The purpose of this appendix is to identify laws and programs of the States of Mississippi and Alabama relating to the development of water and related land resources and to show the role of the states in the comprehensive study of the Pascagoula River Basin.
